Bootsie FEE SPONSORED Domestic Shorthair Senior Male in Herndon, Virginia

My story
Gentleman orange tabby Bootsie is a shy guy. If approached calmly and openly, he will accept gentle pets on his terms while eating or relaxing, but he spends some time every day unwinding under the bed. Bootsie is quiet and attentive. He will sometimes offer meows or chirps for food and treats. He's very fond of lickable gravy-tube-style treats, and eats all of his meals with gusto (he's very food-motivated). He has recently started coming into the kitchen to watch his food being prepared, and then leading his fosters back to his perch where he waits wide-eyed for his meal. He has started playing interactively, and so far his favorite game is the laser pointer, as long as he gets a treat when the chase is done. He also entertains himself, playing with his toys in the middle of the night or when he thinks nobody is watching. Bootsie is a strong jumper, but is very light-footed when walking around high places and doesn't knock anything over.   Bootsie has excellent litterbox habits, though he has a very sensitive tummy and needs specific food to keep healthy. He does not like to be picked up by his fosters, but during his vet visits, he has been a perfectly-behaved gentleman and does not complain or fight the veterinarian. Bootsie's fosters do not have other pets or foster cats in the house, but suspect he would get along (and possibly adjust better) with another very chill, very relaxed cat that would accept Bootsie into the house with a proper, slow introduction. Bootsie's personality requires a calm, quiet, and predictable home. Because of that, he probably would not thrive around dogs, babies or young children, but would be OK in a home with adults and older, respectful children that could learn how to approach him, respect his signals, and give him the space he needs when he needs it.   Check out Bootsie's social media! /dlwcatfoster/ /dlwcatfoster/ If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application and a representative will get back to you shortly to answer any questions you may have. Fosters are like bridges between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save cats and dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters.
